At a glance

Our Kairos energy storage project is located in Belgium and is strategically ideally positioned at a former coal-fired power plant. The energy storage business model is an excellent investment diversification.

Why is the asset attractive?

Advantages

  • Regulatory advantages in Belgium: Excellent regulatory conditions and deployment premiums for energy storage create an attractive environment.

  • Strategic site selection: the vicinity of a former coal-fired power plant allowed for optimal reuse of infrastructure, including grid connections.

  • Grid stability through power balancing: Balancing power fluctuations in the grid, whether due to fluctuations in production or increased demand, to ensure a continuous energy supply.

ESG relevance

  • Responsible technology: use of lithium iron phosphate batteries, a leading technology for stationary storage, which is preferred from an environmental perspective because it does not use metals such as cobalt and nickel.

  • Complementary addition to energy generation: The implementation of these energy storage projects represents an optimal addition to existing and future energy generation projects.
